One of the main themes in Lida Abdul’s works is the catastrophe that befell her country. Using the metaphorical art of language, the artist contemplates the sources of the tragedy that has been going on for several decades. The historical trauma turned out to be so strong that it gave birth to a ‘zone of silence’ in national culture. “In my works I try to oppose the space of politics with the space of dreams. I would like to fill in the voids that arise when people have everything taken from them” (Lida Abdul).
