Sergey Bratkov’s works are provocative and unpredictable.
His heroes – sailors, waitresses, school girls, boxers, street
hooligans – shock us with their reality, but at the same time
there is a nuance of staginess – the brightness of the color
endows the image with a certain ‘excessiveness’, a deliberate?
ness. The characters acquire a character of generalizations,
marking changes in the collective psychology. The social farce
in Bratkov’s portraits becomes simultaneously tragic and
grotesque.
