The duet of Svandinavian artists, Elmgreen and Dragset, who live and work in Berlin, has been around for over ten years. The modern world is the medium of a constant transfer of information, so saturated in goods and brands that this is what appears in their works instead of the appearance of secret human desires and subconscious fears. The analogical and ironic space of the images created by the artists fascinates the viewer: ‘Fiat’ breaks through the floor of Victor-Emmanuel II’s trade series in Milan, beetles in Prada shoes in the Chihuahua desert, a lonely handbag miserably floats down the baggage conveyor belt in an airport… They are all unclaimed; they are all outcasts, just like a defiled Rolls Royce, covered in tar, slowly rotating on a podium.
