The work of the ‘El Perro’ group presents a part of the ‘Democracia’ project in which doubt is cast upon the achievements of European civilization. Humiliation- that is the price that the young generation must pay, the representatives of the ‘third world’ for the right of acquiring the privileges of a ‘democratic society’: for human dignity and personal freedom. The taunts inflicted upon Iraqi prisoners, violence in schools, universities and the army, shown by mass media, have turned another’s pain into a show, a commercial enterprise. Parodying this system, ‘El Perro’ creates the youth brand of ‘Democracia’- for example, t-shirts with portraits of Lindy England who tortured prisoners in Baghdad’s Abu Ghraib.
