Barnaby Hosking’s works shock with their ‘visual purity’: black and white are the only colors the artist uses in his works. This use of visual abstraction brings Hosking close to the American minimalists of the 1960s. However, with such a restrained treatment of space, the use of video permits the artist to obtain an emotional response from the viewer.
