The concept of ‘geopoetics’ became one of the artist’s leitmotifs over the last few years. The artist thinks that it is a complete opposite to ‘geopolitics’, but rather it belongs completely to the sphere of ‘the artistic’. Foreseeing reproaches for ‘incorrectness’, it is not by accident that Leiderman denies the political aspect of his works. His work is not so much a utopia but rather a fantasy with the characteristic absence of a cause-and-effect relationship. The socially significant notions of ‘nation’ and ‘the people’ are transformed into abstract forms like ‘little ovals, little balls or coffee dregs’.
