Using images of city streets filled up by people, things and rubbish, Ester Partegas is examining the problem of the rise and fall of individuality in the modern world. Her project ‘We the people’ is a series of collages in which black-and-white photos of cities are covered in blotches of paint and scraps of text cut out of a magazine advertisement. The diluted colors that cover the upper half of the body leave visible only the department plastic bags which have inscriptions on them that remind one of the text that is situated where the heads would be.
