On the 28th February 2007 there will be a press conference dedicated to the opening of the Second Moscow biennale, a meeting with the curators and a press-showing of the expositions of the Biennale’s Main project.

Taking part in the press conference are: Joseph Backstein commissioner and arts manager of the Second Moscow Biennale, Alexander Zavolokin, deputy manager of the Department of Modern art at Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography, Daniel Birnbaum, curator of the Second Moscow Biennale, Iara Bubnova, curator of the Second Moscow Biennale, Hans-Ulrich Obrist, curator of the Second Moscow Biennale, Fulya Erdemci, curator of the Second Moscow Biennale.

The Second Moscow Biennale of contemporary art will take place from 01.03 – 01.04 2007 Main places where the Biennale will take place: The Tower «Federation» at Moscow-City, Trade Centre TsUM, the Schusev Museum of Architecture, NCCA, Zurab gallery, and also the most significant exhibition spaces in Moscow.

In the framework of the Biennale’s main project the international team of curators is to present a series of exhibitions united by the theme «FOOTNOTES on geopolitics, markets and amnesia».
In the framework of the program ‘Special guests of the Biennale’ the works of worldwide famous artists will be shown- Darren Almond, Komar and Melamid, Luca Pancrazzi, Pipilotti Rist, Jeff Wall, Valie Export. The projects of Robert Wilson and Yoko Ono will be shown in April and May of 2007. Also to be shown are the retrospectives of Pierre and Gilles, Mathew Barney’s films, the projects ‘I Believe’, ‘Movement, evolution, art’, ‘Sots Art. Political art in Russia and China’, ‘Disputes on Realism’, Art Digital 2006 and others. The program of special projects of the Second Moscow Biennale sets itself the task of acquainting the viewers with contemporary art, both in Russia and in the world.
