In his works, Anri Sala, in a way similar to an archeologist, recollects the recent past in very little parts, the history of his homeland.
Filmed in the tradition of documentary cinema, his mother’s recollections and the testimonies of eyewitnesses allow the artist to
show the ‘semantic’ abyss that is forming between the past and the present. The problems of a reappraisal of values, of a cardinal
shift in views on the turn of the century, into the era of socio?political instability, acquired an acute topicality.
