project description
The artist not only designates his own personal space; he also marks the grand text of culture, in which he feels that he is a co-author. His private jottings can become a reflection of the entire endless background of what has already been created. But only contemporary art, however, employs irony and critical pathos as a mirror — and is rewarded with attacks on exhibitions and galleries, criminal cases and the incomprehension of viewers. An installation is the exact same personal trace — diagnosis, manifesto, emotional outburst, unexpected reaction to an event or profoundly thought-out statement — as an oil painting on canvas. Culture is homogenous. The only thing defining the height of the peak on this universal plateau is the talent of the author. The title of the exhibition, The Diary of an Artist, belongs to Dmitry Vrubel.
