This series of panoramic digital photographs of administrative buildings in Beijing, built over a period of ten months in the mid-1950s, demanded from the artist an analysis of many contexts exposing or concealing the essence of the phenomenon of power, the totalitarian ideology, the national mentality and art. The pompous and cold stylistics of the architecture of the 1950s is emphasized by a special digital processing of the images. The intentionally stylized visual language gives the photographs a plastic distinctness and a statuesque monumentality. In each photograph, thanks to computer montage, we see the artist in the form of some public figure of the 1950s. The self-portrait of the artist invades reality, becoming an illustration of social development in temporal and spatial dimensions.
