project description
Over a long period of time which is chronologically indefinable, light was seen on the stage of a functional form, having been filled with various ideas, showing itself to be a peculiar field with a certain consolidation and this consolidation needs a determination of its borders. The light in the Son of Lumiere project inherits flesh by the way of a constructive model, to which are attached multi-coloured flashlights whose light sources, however, come into collision with emptiness. The construction divides the space and forms a row of differently-shaped geometrical figures that share one characteristic- pointlessness. Modern culture, under the pressure of philosophical ideas, having refused to remain in the sphere of objective-subjective relations, has come out into the space of emptiness. Allen Badu, in his ‘manifestation of philosophy’, is trying to again make the object a subject of discourse as a philosophical category. He is trying to exclude the moment of fear and hesitation in the re-born pair “object-subject” by assigning new parameters of the present situation of interrelations. The project ‘Son of Lumiere’ is a type of illustration of this idea. The liberated empty space in the stream of light comes to a standstill in the expectation of being filled up, existing as a metaphor of modern culture, and the cycled search for an object will become a notable feature of this culture.
