The Scottish artist Simon Starling is known for his projects which contain the transformation of one object into another. ‘Autoxylopyrocycloboros’, completed last summer, is an example of such a work. While he was working on this project, Simon Starling sailed on a small steamship down the Loh Long river. Parts of the vessel itself served as fuel for the steamship. After the lapse of the defined time the steamship sank to the bottom. After this, Starling worked on the depictions completed by him during the trip in a special way, turning each one into a unique object.
