Similar to a medieval religious procession, policemen carry a heraldic symbol of Venezuela around the streets of Caracas to the music of Jose Angel Lamas, a famous national composer of the XVIII century. Joining in this procession are the inhabitants of the outskirts who look more like holy fools. The problem of socio-cultural norms, of man’s psychology- this is one of the central problems looked at in the artist’s works. Having been born in to a family of psychiatrists, Javier Tellez views medicine that has the power to expel someone from society as an important indicator of the state of society’s health.
